Vaccine Schedule

There are many opinions on vaccinating dogs and puppies. I personally  have not had any adverse vaccine reaction with any of my own dogs or puppies produced so I still follow the schedule as it was taught to me while I was in college to become a Veterinary Technician. It has worked just fine for me these past 20+ yrs so there must be some truth in this afterall.

This is the protocol we follow here with our own dogs.

8 weeks: First puppy shot (DA2PLP)

12 weeks: Second booster shot (DA2PLP)

16 weeks:  Final booster shot (DA2PLP) + Rabies

1 yr and 4 months:  Yearly booster of (DA2PLP + Rabies)

Every 3-8 yrs thereafter: DA2PLP + Rabies (time between vaccines determined by blood titer levels)

I do not believe in the new theory of non vaccinating animals and allowing them to rely purely on their own immune systems like wild animals found in nature do. My dogs are members of our family and I want to protect them from contracting any one of the terrible diseases lurking about in the air. I take my children to the pediatrician for their vaccines and so I take my dogs to the vet for their vaccines also.
